it's a monday night, and it feels like a monday night. that almost never happens.

I don't have any funny stories to tell or particularly cute photos to post.
I have a lot of thoughts in my head, but I haven't really had the silence required to untangle them into blog worthy subjects. Alice has been waking up a lot again and eating all night long. She's also had some strange allergy-like symptoms that we will be discussing with the pediatrician tomorrow. I've felt particularly challenged. As Jessi said in my comments once (I am very much paraphrasing) there are hard times and easier times and it all cycles around. Right now I feel like I am reacting to the chaos instead of leading the way through it all with a plan.

In fact, as soon as I think I have a plan to control the chaos someone poops in the tub.

Okay I lied earlier. This is photo is pretty cute.

Positives in this scenario:
1. It's really cute.
2. They are asleep, not making messes. Or noises.
3. It's really cute.

Negatives in this scenario:
1. Clark sleeps in weird positions that sometimes wake Alice before she is ready to be awake.
2. I had to stand next to the bed and watch them through the whole nap to be sure Clark didn't randomly put a pillow on Alice's head.

  1. I like the way you put it. I feel the same way sometimes.
And I think it's a universal kid thing to sleep sideways on a bed. It's like coloring outside the lines. :) I hope you find out what's going on with your munchkins allergies. That can be tough. Praying things settle down for you soon.

  2. I hear you on every bit of this!!!

    : )

  3. You were doubly wrong, cute picture and funny words - the bit about poop in the tub made me smile and was kind of actually really deep and telling of what we probably all have to look forwards to for the next couple of decades ;)

Keep us posted about the allergies. Annabel just had some really weird symptoms turn up over the weekend that I found out yesterday with her ped. are actually allergies. I think allergies can look a lot of weird ways. That is a terrible sentence.

  4. cute picture...and hang in there...you must just be on a down swing, it has to come back up sometime!

  5. Somehow you always manage to take a post about "nothing" and turn it into "something" wonderful and inspirational. You really have a way with words and I like the way you think about things.

That photo is super cute. I didn't realize Clark was such a redhead. How old is he, by the way?

  6. P.S. What are those words in the background? I think the one on the right says Roy Lichtenstein...

  7. That was my Monday too! Well, with one child instead of two. Some days you just have to survive and hope you get to a better day tomorrow or the next.
...and poop in the tub...why does stuff like that always happen on days that are already frustrating??
I so hope today is better for you. And, I'm praying you find a solution to those allergy symptoms.

  8. It took me many years to realize it all goes in cycles. By the time you look around, arms folded across your chest, with that little "I have finally mastered this grown-up thing" the storm appears again. I think it is the way nature keeps us humble.

  9. Speaking of Star Wars, you have got to see this...

Seriously. I think Luke might flip and want it for Clark's 3rd birthday! :)Craziness. Just craziness.

(sorry this comment wasn't about your post, but I HAD to share that, but just so you know, your post was fun to read and the picture is simply adorable!)

  10. I just found your blog and I'm already in love. It was love at first post. Thanks for the laughs.

  11. Your line about poop in the tub is about the best payoff to a blog post that I've seen in a long time. It pretty much sums up this crazy life.

  12. Okay, I had to laugh about the pooping in the tub! We went through a stage where every night one of the girls had pooped in the tub...once I even had poop in both of my bathtubs...long story!
