It seems

It seems we found a house.

It is just a plain old house, in a subdivision, in a suburb. The angels weren't singing when we looked at it the first time. We looked around silently and got in the car. And then after very few words, we got right back out of the car to look at it some more.

"The things we want are here," we nodded.
"We should maybe try to buy it," we nodded some more.

It has all the stuff we need and many of the things we only hoped for. It is currently bank-owned and needs some help. But I am good at helping houses! I have many ideas about such things! I want to move in already.

It has a laundry chute and a side load garage and it is in the elementary school district Clark is already attending. It has a nice floor plan for us and lots of storage and a giant laundry room on the main floor and new clean tile in all the baths. It can be cute. It will be cute. I am excited about making it cute.

I think we may be turning a bright corner after working our way down a very long dark path. It has been too much for too long and we are finally, almost, to the air.

  7. You'll make it your own and soon it will be home and no longer just "a plain old house". Once you get your touches on it and settle in, you'll feel great about things. And hey, you have a laundry chute! I know tons of people (including myself) who've been dreaming of one of those for years!

  12. OOooh so exciting. You'll make it look smashing of course. I am happy for you all to start a fresh page in a fresh space. I had forgotten laundry chutes existed. We had one in W. Lafayette and it was sooo fun as a kid--even when we got a pillow followed by He-man and some Barbies stuck. :) Amazing. I dream of having a washer and dryer in our house someday, but a chute is a totally fabulous practical extravagance.

  13. I am sure you will make it into a home! And a laundry chute? I always wanted one growing up.
That's so great that it's in the same school district, too. Less upheaval! Were you looking in the same district where you were renting or did it just fall into place?

  14. I can't wait to see a bunch of before and after photos of all the smart stuff you do! Laundry chutes are fun - especially for little (and not-so-little) boys.

Our house is already too big,(I am most certainly not complaining) but sometimes I wish I could have like a hundred houses so I could put all of my ideas to work! Do you ever feel like that? A little sad that you can only have the room be one room?

I'm so glad you are about to get the fresh air and sunshine on your face.
